Motorized Ball Valves
Motorized valves, commonly called actuated valves, are used in applications requiring automated valve control. Unlike manual valves which involve manually turning a handle or gearbox, motor-operated ball valves open or close the valves automatically by energizing an electric motor after receiving a control signal. The combination of a ball valve with an electric actuator is called an electrically actuated valve.
In order to be motorized the valve and actuator must be able to bolt together. Valve manufacturers typically accomplish this by including the mount as part of the valve body casting allowing the valve (and integrally cast mounting pad) to be directly mounted to the actuator. Automatic ball valves with an integrally cast mounting pad are referred to as direct mount valves.
Valve and actuator manufacturers ensure their respective products bolt together by using to a standard mounting pattern. The most common mounting standard is ISO 5211. This standard calls out bolt hole patterns and sizes for different sized mounting pads.
On/Off Ball ValvesOn/Off electric actuated valves switch from completely open to completely closed without stopping anywhere in between. Once the valve is completely cycled fully open or closed the motor is switched off by internal cams striking limit switches. For example, when a "close" signal is received, the motor is energized and begins rotating. As the motor closes the valve an integral cam turns on an internal shaft. Limit switches ride on this cam until the cam lobe causes the limit switch to break the circuit and shut off the motor. The reverse is true for opening the actuator valve.
Positioning Valves
Some applications require an actuator valve to open partially or react to varying flow conditions. For electrically actuated valves, this is accomplished by a digital position sensor. An external control signal (such as 4-20mA or 0-10V) is generated based on flow requirements. A microprocessor in the actuator continuously compares the analog input signals to the physical position via an output feedback system, moving the actuator as required to balance the signals and find the desired position. In most cases the low end of the signal range (4mA or 0V) is used to close the valve. This is called "normally closed" operation. Some applications might require the valve to be normally open in which case either the signal limits or the valve mounting would be reversed.

Normex Ball Foot Valves are regarded as the only reliable, 100% leakproof foot valves. These valves are the solution to priming problems.
In the application where foot valve is involved, the main concern of the user is draining of water by the foot valve. This calls for the ‘priming’ of the the pump which is time consuming tedious job. If the “on-off frequency” is more, the trouble rises multifolds. A heavily leaking footvalve can also give rise to start up trouble to pump as suction line is empty. Compared with the solenoid valve, the motorized valve is more reliable, safe and can replace the solenoid valve. How Motorized Valve Works:
Motorized Valve is a power supply to drive the motor rotation, thus opening or closing the valve of a device, and withstand voltage shocks. The rotating range of the electric valve is adjustable. The rotating range can be adjusted by inputting the specified current and voltage signals. The general control signals are current signal (4 to 20mA) or voltage signal (0 to 5V, 1 to 5V).
Applications Of Motorized Valve:

A 3-way pneumatic ball valve has three ports. They are available in two design types: L-port and T-port. This refers to the bore design in the ball, which is the media flow path. With a 3-way ball valve T-port or L-port, it is possible to mix, distribute, or divert the media flow. A 3-way T-port ball valve can be used for mixing media from two inlets into a single outlet or for distributing one inlet to two outlets. By changing the position of the handle (90 degree or 180 degree), you can change the circuit function. The 3-way L-port ball valve is designed for flow direction control. The L-port valve has a 90 degree bore inside of the ball, hence the name L-port. A single-acting pneumatic actuator uses a single compressed air input to turn the valve and a spring to return the valve to the normal position. A double-acting pneumatic actuator has two compressed air inputs to turn the valve and return the valve to the original position.Operating principle of Pneumatic Actuator operated Ball ValveThe most common mechanism for a pneumatic actuator for ball valves is the rack and pinion mechanism. This comprises of the rack (a linear gear) and the pinion (a circular gear). The rack is attached to a piston which is pushed by compressed air to achieve linear motion. This linear motion is converted to circular motion by the pinion. The pinion drives the stem of a ball valve to open and close positions. To control the pneumatic actuator for ball valves, the compressed air is regulated by solenoid valves. Electrical signals from the controller energize the solenoid valve to either open or close positions allowing compressed air to flow through to both piston sides of the pneumatic actuator. The piston pushes the rack which turns the pinion connected to the stem of the ball valve.
